Your Guide to Choosing the Right Size Grips
Choosing the right size golf grips is often crucial for any golfer looking to maximize their performance on the course. While often overlooked, it’s imperative to select grips that are the proper size for you if you want to get improve your consistency. Grips that are too small can cause the golfer to lose control of their swing, resulting in inconsistency and inaccuracy. On the other hand, grips that are too large hinder the golfer's ability to release the club properly, limiting their power and distance. Thus, finding the perfect grip size is essential for every golfer.
Golf grips come in a range of sizes from undersized to oversized/jumbo. Standard grips are the most common are what are generally found on clubs at the rack at golf and sporting good stores. To find the right grip size for you, we recommend testing different grip sizes and potentially working with a club fitter or instructor to maximize performance. Men’s Small & Women’s Small/Medium: Undersized Grips
Men’s Medium/ML & Women’s Large: Standard Grips
Men’s Large: Midsize Grips
Mens’ XL+: Jumbo/Oversized Grips
Recommended Golf Grip Size Based on Hand Size
Crease to Fingertip is 5” to 6.5”: Undersized Grips
Crease to Fingertip is 6.5” to 7.5”: Standard Grips
Crease to Fingertip is 7.5” to 9”: Midsize Grips
Crease to Fingertip is 9” and up: Jumbo/Oversized Grips
If after testing you feel caught between sizes, you can also choose the smaller of the two grips and add extra layers of grip tape instead. Generally, 4 extra layers of tape will take grips from undersized to standard, standard to midsize, and so on. It’s a very common practice to add a few 1-3 extra layers to get to those in between sizes but worth noting that this will stretch the rubber to some degree and can impact the durability and feel of the grip.
