Titleist TSi2 Driver Review

Titleist TSi2 Driver: Dependable Distance and Foregiveness

The Titleist TSi2 driver is a high-performance golf club designed for maximum distance and forgiveness off the tee. It’s got plenty of style and the substance to back it up. For anyone looking to get more distance and forgiveness off the tee box, it’s worth taking a close look at the Titleist TSi2 driver.

Right off the bat, the TSi2 is loaded with technology. It features a clubface made of ATI 425 Aerospace Titanium, which generates high ball speeds across the entire face. Titleist is also happy to market that it has an aerodynamically optimized clubhead shape to maximize speed combined with a stable high-MOI design. Personally, we didn't love the clubhead shape but we certainly felt confident there was no way we could miss at address. Beyond the marketing buzz, we can confirm that the club felt explosive off the tee and had the distance to back it up. Most importantly, we did find that we still got good distance on off center hits and didn’t feel terribly punished for reasonable mishits.

One of the standout features on the TSi2 is the adjustability. While adjustable drivers are commonplace now, we really felt like we were about to get a lot of mileage out of making quick adjustments on the range prior to a round with the SureFit hosel. With 16 loft and lie settings to choose from, you can make quick adjustments to dial in your preferred trajectory and shot shape. While I preferred the default D4 setting (for lefties) most rounds, more than once I’d make a quick adjustment to the C4 position if my natural draw looked more like a hook on the range before a round. The TSi2 also offers adjustable weighting via the SureFit flat weights if you're interested in also adjusting the weighting.

In terms of style, we first need to talk about the build quality. The Titleist TSi2 Driver is top-notch, like most Titleist products. The materials used feel premium, and the overall craftsmanship is excellent. Beyond that, it’s a good looking club both in the bag and at address. The design, the lettering, and the overall style all give you confidence that Titleist spared no expense putting this club together. If you like the clubhead shape, it's undoubtedly a winner in this department (and if you don't Titleist has other offerings in the TSi lineup that may appeal to you that we'll discuss later).

Beyond that, the acoustics of the driver are phenomenal. Every strike is accompanied by a satisfying but powerful “tink” that was always rewarding, even if the shot itself wasn’t deserving. It’s really a joy to play with this club and Titleist left no stone un-turned in it’s development.

While the TSi2 Driver offers exceptional performance, it is important to note that it may not be the ideal choice for every golfer. The driver is designed for players seeking maximum distance and forgiveness, so if you prioritize other aspects such as shot shaping or workability, the TSi2 may not be the best fit. Let's take a look at a few of the other offerings in the Titleist lineup.

What's the difference between the TSi1, TSi2, TSi3, and Tsi4 Drivers?

The TSi1 driver is a lightweight driver built with players with moderate clubhead speeds in mind. If your clubhead speed is <90mph and you're looking to maximize distance with a club that offers a higher launch and spin, the TSi1 could be a great choice.

The TSi2 driver is all about distance and foregiveness. We cover the rest of our thoughts in this post but we'll say again, it's big, it will launch high and give you confidence off the tee.

The TSi3 driver is the more compact offering compared to the TSi2 and designed with "better" players in mind (although it's also 460cc like the TSi2). It's built for players who can consistently strike the ball, are comfortable with a flatter launch, and want the benefit of easy adjustments to the CG placement.

The TSi4 driver is the smallest driver in the lineup at 425cc and is Titleist's low spin offering for players who need to reduce spin to maximize distance. It's the most workable option in the TSi lineup and will definitely appeal to players that prefer the classic pear clubhead shape.

What's the difference between TSi and TSR Drivers?

Titleist introduced the TSi lineup in late 2020 with the launch of the TSi2 and TSi3, displacing the TS lineup that was introduced back in 2018. They followed that up with the introduction of the TSi1 and TSi4 in early 2021. The TSR lineup is the latest addition to Titleist's storied history (with a few roadbumps along the way) of producing high-performance drivers for amateurs and professionals. The TSR lineup was introduced in late 2022, replacing the TSi lineup and iterating on the incredible design and performance the TSi drivers are known for. We'll dive into the technical specs of the TSR drivers in another post.

Conclusion

Overall, I highly recommend the Titleist TSi2 Driver for golfers who prioritize distance and forgiveness. Its high ball speeds, stability, and adjustability make it a formidable club off the tee. However, I encourage golfers to try it out and compare it with other options available to ensure it aligns with their specific needs, preferences, and budget.
